69th Independence Day was celebrated at Bhitai Dental & Medical College (BDMC) with traditional fervor and enthusiasm.
A very colorful program was organized which included flag hoisting ceremony, Cake cutting and Speeches, National songs, Tableaus and skits by the students. The whole building of college was illuminated with Pakistani color bulbs, balloons and flags.
Chairman Bhitai Trust & Managing Trust BDMC Dr. Ghulam Mustafa and All Trustee of college, Chief Adviser Dr. Iqbal Memon, Principal Dr. Ghani Pathan, Vice Principal Dr. Atif Mahmood & Dr. Atif Jawad, Director Finance, Prof. Muhammad Laiq Thebo, Advisor to Chairman & Director HR, Prof. Rizwan ur Rashid, all senior faculty members, lecturers and administrative officers were present at this auspicious occasion.
The program started with recitation of Holy Quran by Mr. Karim Ullah student of 3rd year BDS. After recitation, the flag hoisting ceremony was performed by Dr. Ghulam Mustafa and his colleagues in Bhitai Trust and senior faculty accompanying him at the occasion. The national anthem was sung with patriotic zeal and zest. Pakistani flag colored cake was cut to celebrate the birthday of Pakistan.
Dr. Ghulam Mustafa gave an opening address in which he appraised the sacrifices of our fore fathers and leaders laid for the independence of Pakistan. He emphasized on the need of hard work and commitment to achieve the goals set by our fore fathers. Dr. Capt. Muhammad Iqbal (Advisor Bhitai Trust), and Prof. Muhammad Laique Thebo (Executive Director), also spoke on the occasion.
The program was hosted by four compares viz; Mr. Umer Raza & Miss. Afifa (3rd year BDS students), Miss. Laila (1st year BDS student) & Miss. Iqra Aijaz (2nd year BDS student). The program started with a video tribute and one minute silence that was observed in the memory of the martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar presented by Dr. Misbah Saleem and third year BDS students.
Following students participated in speech competition (Urdu): Mr. Talha (1st year BDS student), Mr. Usama Shams, Miss. Ayesha (2nd year BDS students), Mr. Umer Raza Merani (3rdyear BDS student) and Mr. Muhammad Irfan (4thyear BDS student) and in speech competition (English): Miss. Areeba Jalbani (4th year BDS student), Mr. Mansoor (3rdyear BDS student) and Mr. Shahzaib (1st year BDS student).
A quiz competition was also held among the student in which they were arranged in two teams. Team A comprised the students from first year and second year BDS along with team captains Dr. Sadia Tabassum and Dr. Sana Arain. Team B comprised the students from third year and fourth year BDS along with team captain Dr. Permanand.
The students sung national songs with high spirit and enthusiasm. Comic skit namely “ChoCho News” and Tableaus on Pakistani culture was also presented by the students.
In the end, shields and certificate of participation were distributed among the winners and all the participants respectively. The chief organizer Dr. Atif Mahmood, Co-organizer Dr. Sonam Nankani were also appreciated and commended on organizing a successful and colorful event which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The other facilitators who contributed significantly included Dr. Atif Jawad, Mr. Rizwan ur Rashid, Dr. Umer Khayyam, Dr. Prem Singh, Mr. Altaf Butt, Mr. Waqas Lutuf.
The chief organizer and Vice Principal of the college Dr. Atif Mahmood, said that Quaid-e-Azam’s philosophy of unity, faith and discipline must be implemented in letter and spirit in order to make our country an Islamic Welfare State.
After prize distribution, a collective Dua was offered led by Prof. Rizwan-ur-Rashid followed by vote of thanks by Dr. Atif Jawad who thanked all the participants and announced the closing of the ceremony which was followed by a scrumptious lunch.
