World Oral Health Day
World oral health day was celebrated at Bhitai Dental and Medical College mirpurkhas with full zeal and zest under the supervision of Principal Dr. Permanand, Vice Principals Dr. Ali Maqbool and Dr. Shuja, Director Academics & HOD Physiology Dr. Atif Mahmood, HOD Biochemistry Dr. Naveed Ahsan, HOD Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Incharge Student Affairs Department Dr. Muhammad Anique and Coordinator Student affairs Dr. Bisma Khizer. Simultaneous Community engagement and Educational Activity were conducted the highlights of the day.
Special teams comprising of a dental surgeon, house officer and students were deployed at community centers in schools, welfare hospital, nursing and physiotherapy campuses and dental hospital where they interacted with patients, their attendants and students and taught them about oral hygiene, brushing techniques, prevention of dental caries, and other related topics.
An educational activity was simultaneously conducted at the college campus in which prominent dental surgeons from college faculty spoke and highlighted the importance of oral hygiene and prevention of pariodontal diseases and Dental caries. Among the speakers were dr. Zafar Iqbal, head department community dentistry; Dr Naresh Kumar, assistant professor, department of operative dentistry and Assistant Professor Dr Rajesh Kumar Sufi from department of Periodontology highlighted the importance of oral Health Promotion.
After both of these activities all the participants gathered and initiated a walk to highlight the importance of oral hygiene among masses and to aware them regarding the effects of tobacco on Oral mucosa and diseases like oral cancer.
The event was organised by department of community dentistry along with student affairs, medical education under the able of guidance of Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, Chairman and managing director, Bhitai Group of Colleges and Deputy Managing Director Bhitai Group of Colleges Dr. Mushtaq Khan.
