Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) is the specialty of Dentistry that encompasses the art and science of the diagnosis and surgical management of diseases, injuries, and defects of the Oral and Maxillofacial region. It is also designed to develop instinct to become a lifelong learner and take active part in Continual Dental Education (CDE)
The course of oral surgery is designed such that the students are trained to diagnose the diseases, injuries, defect of jawbones and associated intra and extra-oral structures and to train the students to provide services of Oral Surgery for the management of patients in practice of general dentistry. Students are also trained to encounter oral surgical accidents, complications and preparation of patients for oral surgical procedures and post-operative care for simple and complicated tooth extractions.
OPD has different minor Operation Theaters for Hepatitis patients and for minor surgical procedures which makes sure that there is no cross contamination and every patient is treated as a special case with meticulous sterilization. The procedures performed at our OPD are:
Besides OPD, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department has a large scope of work at our inpatient department at Bhitai Medical Center. It has the facility of general anesthesia thus allowing us to perform complicated procedures like complex fractures, tumors, deep impactions removals of larger lesion excision processes. With the most qualified team of oral surgeons, Bhitai Faculty and this facility is a blessing for the region.
